The H. C. Gemmer Family Christian Foundation focuses on peace, justice, sobriety, and racial harmony, as well as ecumenical and inter-faith organizations. The Foundation supports organizations throughout the U.S.
The Foundation has two primary areas of funding:
Peace With Justice
Specific interests include:
- alternatives to violence, militarism, and war;
- conflict resolution;
- reconciliation and healing;
- peace education; and,
- criminal justice.

Grants range up to $3,000.
Application guidelines are available on the Foundation's website. Interested organizations must submit a letter of inquiry to the Foundation, who may invite them to apply for a grant.

Nonprofit organizations
Grants are not made to/for:
- individuals;
- scholarships or tuition assistance for undergraduate, graduate, or postgraduate studies;
- political purposes or for lobbying activities;
- organizations without a determination letter from the IRS, stating they are exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code;
- private foundations, service clubs, or fraternal, social, civic organizations;
- endowments, building funds, annual fund drives, or capital campaigns;
- operating deficits, financial emergencies, or debt retirement;
- sponsorships, including auctions, dinners, tickets, advertising, or fundraising events;
- multi-year requests;
- organizations that discriminate on basis of religion, gender, race, ethnicity, political beliefs, disabilities, or sexual orientation; or,
- sectarian or religious organizations for religious purposes where the principle activity is for the benefit of their own members or adherents.
