After-school and out-of-school programs can give children an essential boost in their education, particularly in areas that are already underserved by education systems. There are many nonprofits who have made these kinds of programs their main missions.

These nonprofits are only able to do their work, of course, thanks to the generous funding provided by after-school program grants. These grants can be put towards all sorts of purposes, from tutoring to career readiness and leadership development programs.

There are a variety of organizations that provide these kinds of grants. These include many different private foundations, such as the Wallace Foundation, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and the Lego Foundation. 

When drafting an after school program grant proposal, it's essential that you accumulate data relevant to the kind of program you hope to run. This could include specific educational performance data, or demographics about the communities you are intending to target. Good places to get started could include the Pew Research Center or Child Trends.
