Children and youth are the future of every community. And yet many youth around the world have intimidating barriers to pursuing their dreams in the form of poverty, lack of education or lack of access to healthcare. There are many nonprofits that have made it their mission to help children overcome these barriers. These nonprofits are only able to pursue this mission thanks to the generous assistance from children and youth grants.

These grants can be put towards all kinds of initiatives and programs. This could include greater educational access, food security and nutritional programs, mental health services for children, foster care support, youth mentorship programs and college readiness programs. 

There are many different kinds of organizations that provide these kinds of grants. This includes many private foundations, such as the Kresge Foundation, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation or The Duke Endowment. 

When drafting nonprofit grants for children and youths, it's important to include relevant and accurate data. You need to make it clear that you understand the community that you are targeting, and the challenges facing youth within that community. Relevant information could include child poverty rates, education achievement gaps or health gaps. Places you can start looking for this kind of data include Youth.gov or the CDC Youth Risk Behavior Survey.
