The topic of civic affairs includes everything from community engagement to voter participation and education to government transparency. Trust in civic institutions is at an all time low across much of the Western world, leading to a degradation of our democracies. Nonprofits engaged in civic affairs take on the task of working to reverse this process. 

These nonprofits are only able to do their work, of course, thanks to the generous funding provided by civic affairs grants. These grants can be used for all kinds of initiatives - such as voter registration, education on civic topics and hosting town hall meetings. 

There are an array of different organizations that might write these kinds of grants. These include a variety of private foundations, such as the Democracy Fund, the MacArthur Foundation or the Ford Foundation.
