Education reform, and innovation within education, are essential for keeping instruction relevant and useful. However, this reform and innovation does not come for free - and may be even more difficult in a time of wide cuts to public services, including education. This is why there are many nonprofits who are engaged in education reform.

These nonprofits are only able to do their essential work thanks to the funding provided by education reform grants. These grants can be used for all kinds of purposes, from developing and implementing new curriculum, to promoting equitable access to education for underserved communities. 

There are many different organizations involved in the education reform space. This includes many private foundations, such as the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Carnegie Corporation of New York, the Lumina Foundation and the Walton Family Foundation.
