Climate change is one of the most significant threats facing our species and planet today, with a variety of impacts and challenges that communities and ecosystems must face. There are many nonprofits engaged in the climate change space, working either to tackle the causes or mitigate the effects.

These nonprofits are only able to do their good work through the generous funding provided by climate change grants. These grants can be put towards a wide range of purposes. This can include projects such as enhancing energy efficiency within a community, adopting community-based reaction strategies to extreme weather, and funding climate research. 

These grants are provided by a wide range of organizations. Traditionally this included federal agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency, or the Department of Energy. There are, as well, many state, local and corporate agencies involved in grant giving in this area. Many community and private corporations are also involved in climate change grants, such as the Rockefeller Foundation. 

When drafting a climate change grant proposal, it's essential to accumulate data regarding the particular aspect or effect your nonprofit is dealing with. This could include regional temperature, carbon emissions or economic losses from climate change. Good places to start reaching out for data could include the Environmental Protection Agency, or the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
