Land and property can be essential for the operation of nonprofits. Land can be used for new facilities and headquarters, the preservation of natural habitats, or to create public spaces - as just a few examples. 

Of course, many nonprofits can only acquire land through the generous funding provided by land acquisition grants. There are many different organizations that are involved in providing such land acquisition grants. These include many private foundations across many sectors of charity, with examples including the Kresge Foundation, the Land Trust Alliance and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
