It is estimated that over 10% of the entire American population lives below the poverty line. There are many nonprofits that make it their mission to serve the many low-income populations around the nation, helping alleviate the effects of poverty and inclusion. These nonprofits are only able to pursue this mission thanks to the funding provided by low-income grants.

These grants can be used for all kinds of initiatives that address poverty. This could include housing projects, food security programs, healthcare access, educational support services and job training programs. 

There are many different kinds of organizations that are involved in providing these kinds of grants. Traditionally this included federal agencies, but also includes many different private foundations such as the W.K. Kellogg Foundation or the Kresge Foundation.
