Organic farming is an important factor in the development of more sustainable farming practices, helping reduce pollution and contamination while improving efficiency and food security. There are many nonprofits dedicated to assisting the organic farming space. However, these nonprofits are only able to do what they do thanks to the funding provided by organic farming grants.

These grants can be put towards a wide range of purposes, such as training and education programs in organic farming practices, organic farming infrastructure such as greenhouses and irrigation, farmer’s markets for organic farmers to sell produce, or land acquisition to expand organic farms. 

There are many organizations involved in these kinds of grants. Traditionally this included federal agencies, such as the USDA’s Organic Transition Program. There are also many private foundations involved in this space, such as the W.K. Kellogg Foundation or the The Clif Family Foundation. 

When drafting an organic farming grant proposal, it's essential to back up your claims and case with relevant, accurate data. You may need to bring up information on anything from food insecurity to the environmental impact of organic farming. A good place to start is the USDA itself.
