The parks and recreational spaces of our states and cities are often taken for granted. But these places often have an essential role in promoting mental health, physical activity and a sense of community. However, National Parks Services have been underfunded for some time, and this trend only looks to continue. This is where nonprofits can step in to try to pick up some of the slack.

These nonprofits can only do their work, of course, thanks to the generous funding provided by grants. These parks grants can be put towards a wide range of programs and initiatives. These could include the development and maintenance of local parts, expanding access to national parks, and promoting environmental awareness through park-based programs.

These grants can come from a wide range of sources. Examples traditionally included federal agencies such as the Land and Water Conservation Fund. There are also many private organizations in this space, such as the National Recreation and Park Association, and the Trust for Public Land. 

When drafting a parks grant proposal, it's essential that you accumulate relevant, local and accurate data. You need to clearly illustrate a lack of part services in your chosen community before outlining your nonprofit’s plan to address this.
