Addressing poverty is essential for promoting social equity, improving communities and protecting our democracy. Of course, poverty is still endemic to many areas of the world, including the United States. This is why there are many nonprofits that have made anti-poverty efforts their main mission, working tirelessly to try to address the effects and causes of poverty.

These nonprofits can only do their good work, of course, thanks to the generous funding provided by poverty grants. These grants can be put towards a wide range of projects and initiatives. These can include direct aid given in the form of housing, healthcare or food. They can also involve funding workforce development, or job training initiatives. 

There are many different entities that provide these kinds of grants, including many private foundations, such as the Annie E. Casey Foundation or the Ford Foundation. 

When drafting poverty grant proposals, you need to collect extensive and relevant data. You need to prove both the extent of poverty across the community you are targeting, and the negative effects of that poverty. A good place to start searching for useful statistics could include the Pew Research Center or the World Bank.
