Private educational institutions, such as independent, private and parochial schools, are in a unique position to cater to particular groups of students. These include students with particular gifts who would benefit from a specialized curriculum, or those who would thrive in smaller class sizes with more teacher attention. There are, therefore, many nonprofits whose missions involve supporting these kinds of institutions.

Of course, they’re only able to do this thanks to the generous funding provided by private education nonprofits. These grants can be put towards a wide range of purposes - these could include helping expand private education to underserved communities, fund new curricula or providing professional development for educators. 

There are many private foundations involved in providing private education grants. Examples of these include The Walton Family Foundation, The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, The Cargill Foundation and The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. 

When drafting a private education grant proposal, it's essential to use data to prove that there are gaps in educational access and equity that your nonprofit is uniquely suited to address. A good place to start looking for such statistics is the National Center for Education Statistics.
