Public service and volunteerism are the bedrocks of many nonprofit organizations. Many such organizations would be absolutely incapable of pursuing their missions if not for being able to mobilize volunteers. However, hiring, training and organizing volunteers takes a significant commitment of time and money. 

There is where the funding from volunteerism grants can be invaluable. These grants can help cover not only recruiting and training, but also the creation of infrastructure that supports volunteer management, including software. 

There are a variety of organizations that might provide volunteer grants, including many private foundations, such as the Points of Light Foundation. 

When drafting a volunteerism grant proposal, you need to make sure to explain clearly what you’ll be using your volunteer mobilization for. You have to demonstrate there is a clear need in your targeted community, and that your nonprofit needs the help of volunteers to make a real change.
