Clean drinking water is often taken for granted. But there are many places around the world, and within America itself, without this luxury. There are many nonprofit organizations that have made it their mission to step up and try to address this disparity. But they are only able to do so thanks to the funding provided by grants.

Water infrastructure grants can help cover a range of purposes and projects. This can include rebuilding or upgrading drinking water systems, or implementing water conservation and sustainability. They can also be put towards advocacy efforts, or targeting specifically underserved communities.

There are an equally diverse range of organizations that might provide such grants. Traditionally these included federal agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency. But they can also include private foundations such as the Coca-Cola Foundation. 

When drafting a water infrastructure grant, it's essential to come prepared with comprehensive data. This could include data on water quality, water infrastructure and health impacts relating to water in your chosen communities. Good places to start looking for this data could include the Environmental Protection Agency, or the U.S. Geological Survey.
