Women and girls face many different struggles across the globe, including discrimination in education, earnings and the freedom to choose their own path in life. There are many nonprofits that have made it their mission to help provide women and girls with equal opportunities no matter what their aspirations are. These nonprofits are only able to do what they do thanks to the generous funding provided by women’s grants.

These grants can be put towards all kinds of purposes. Examples could include gender-based violence prevention programs, educational scholarships, leadership development or economic aid targeted at women, or reproductive health services. 

There are many different organizations that might write these kinds of grants. This includes many private foundations, such as the NoVo Foundation or the Ms. Foundation for Women. 

When drafting a women’s grant proposal, it's essential that you demonstrate an understanding of the particular community that you are targeting and its specific needs. Depending on your mission, you may need information on gender disparities in categories such as education, income or healthcare access. Good places to get started looking for these could include the Institute for Women’s Policy Research or the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
