Detailed Guide for the Decision Matrix
This section provides guidance on how to answer the questions in the Decision Matrix for evaluating the leads that you have found in your research and added to your list of Saved Grantmakers.
Mandatory Criteria
These first two questions will help you determine if you should proceed with the funder. If you can’t answer “Yes” to them both, set the funder aside for now.
Do we meet the eligibility requirements?
- The eligibility question is often straightforward, but occasionally there are issues to consider.
- Examples:
- You are a library, and you find a funder that says that they only give to 501(c)(3) organizations. You may have a “Friends of the Library” organization that does have that classification. Or you could contact the funder to ask if they allow libraries to apply directly.
