Build an Approach That Gets Noticed - The Basics

The purpose of the approach section is to explain what you will do when you get your grant award. 

The approach section answers the questions, “What will you do to address the reasons behind the need?” AND “What will you do to achieve your outcomes and indicators?” AND “How will you spend the money requested in the budget?” 

Before starting the approach section, consider assembling stakeholders in your organization to think about these questions:

  • How can we address the root causes of needs (reasons behind the need)?
  • What actions can we take to facilitate the change we wish to see (outcomes)?
  • How can we involve all stakeholders in the design of the program?
  • How can we encourage engagement, commitment, and enthusiasm for the program by partners and participants?
  • What resources do we need to implement our approach?

Overall, you will answer the following questions in your approach section: 

  • What will you do?
  • Who will do it?
  • When will they do...
