Grants Strengthen Partnerships Building Community Sustainability
The Funders Network: Partners for Places

Application deadline: February 28, 2025
Geographic scope: United States and Canada
Grant amount: $45,000 to $100,000 for one-year projects and $75,000 to $150,000 for two-year projects
Description: The Partners for Places grant program, hosted by The Funders Network, aims to enhance local capacity to build equitable and sustainable communities in the United States and Canada. The grants support partnerships between a local government sustainability or water department, a frontline community partner, and a place-based funder for the planning and implementation of equitable climate action or green stormwater infrastructure projects that address frontline community priorities. One-year grants are provided to strong, existing partnerships to plan or implement a project, while two-year grants support the creation or improvement of collaborative partnerships and the planning or implementation of a project. The grants require one or more local foundations to provide at least a 50% match. Support will be provided for six to eight projects in the current grant round.

Programs for Veterans and Their Families Supported
Tee It Up for the Troops

Application deadline: None, although national grant requests received prior to May 1 will be considered by the end of the second quarter of each year
Description: Tee It Up for the Troops seeks to help military veterans and their families in the United States to heal, transition, grow, and thrive. With funds raised through golf events and fundraisers, Tee It Up for the Troops provides grants to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that support past and present military personnel and their families. Areas of support include employment, family and caregiver support, housing and homelessness, PTSD and traumatic brain injury treatment, sports rehabilitation, and suicide prevention. Grant applications are accepted throughout the year. National grant requests received prior to May 1 will be considered by the end of the second quarter of each year. Requests related to a specific Tee It Up for the Troops event will be considered upon receipt, provided the Tee It Up for the Troops event chair supports the request.

Brabson Family Foundation

Application deadline: March 1, annually
Description: The Brabson Family Foundation supports bold and innovative ideas in education, sciences, and the arts in the United States. Successful grant applications demonstrate a novel or unique idea and clearly define the problem and proposed solution. 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations and organizations under the umbrella of another 501(c)(3) nonprofit are eligible to apply. Examples of past grants are available on the Foundation’s website.

Funds Advance Social Impact Organizations in the U.S. and Other Regions
Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation

Application deadline: None
Geographic scope: Primarily Africa, Europe, India, and the United States
Grant amount: Up to $300,000 over three years
Description: Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation (DRK) is a global venture philanthropy firm supporting early-stage social impact organizations solving the world’s biggest social and environmental problems with bold, scalable approaches. Support is primarily provided in Africa, Europe, India, and the United States, although projects in Latin America and Israel may be considered in select situations. DRK seeks social entrepreneurs with dynamic products or services that have a proven ability to positively impact the lives of underserved people. DRK supports these organizations at the early stages by providing capacity, capital, and community. Capacity support includes operational and technical support, both through a hands-on board service role and specialist capacity-building resources. Capital of up to $300,000 USD over a three-year period is provided as either unrestricted grant funding or investment capital. Nonprofit organizations (U.S. 501(c)(3) organizations and non-U.S. equivalents) and mission-driven for-profit entities are eligible to apply.

Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation

Application deadline: February 24 and September 15, 2025
Geographic scope: Communities in Dominion’s service area, including locations in CT, NC, RI, SC, VA, and WV
Grant amount: Primarily $1,000 to $15,000
Description: The Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation supports nonprofit organizations that enhance the quality of life in the communities served by Dominion Energy, including in Connecticut, North Carolina (the northeast region), Rhode Island (Kent and Washington counties), South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia (Grant and Tucker counties). Areas of interest include human needs, environmental stewardship, education, and community vitality.

Programs Addressing Social Determinants of Health Funded in Texas
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas: Blue Impact Grants

Application deadline: February 10, 2025, for letters of intent
Geographic scope: Texas
Description: Through Blue Impact Grants, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas aims to expand access to healthcare in Texas. Support is provided within the following pillars to target the social determinants of health: economic opportunity and stability; nutrition; neighborhood and built environment; locally defined health solutions; and optimal health outcomes, including immunizations, diabetes care, cardiovascular care, behavioral health, early detection cancer screening, and maternal and infant health. Nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations with a current annual budget of $2 million or more are eligible to apply as lead applicants in collaboration with a health partner such as a hospital, clinic, or federally qualified health center. (In addition to Blue Impact Grants, sponsorships are available throughout the year.)

Grants Enhance Quality of Life in AZ, CA, and NV Communities
Smart & Final Charitable Foundation

Application deadline: None
Geographic scope: Company communities in AZ, CA, and NV
Description: The Smart & Final Charitable Foundation supports nonprofit organizations that work to improve the quality of life in the communities the company serves in Arizona, California, and Nevada. Areas of interest include health and wellness; education, including K-12 education; hunger relief; disaster relief; and team sports and youth development. Cash grants and sponsorships are provided.

Bader Philanthropies: Alzheimer’s and Healthy Aging

Application deadline: Preliminary applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. The upcoming deadline for consideration in the fall is May 31, 2025.
Geographic scope: Wisconsin
Description: Bader Philanthropies’ Alzheimer’s and Healthy Aging program area seeks to enrich the lives of families caring for those with dementia and preserve the dignity of all older adults. Support is provided throughout Wisconsin to organizations committed to helping older adults remain safe in order to age in place; to creating opportunities for older adults to learn and use technology in order to stay connected with family and friends; and to providing caregivers, professionals, and students with educational opportunities. Current focus areas include services and support for Alzheimer’s and other dementias; critical and basic needs for older adults; programming for healthy aging; education, training, and awareness; and retirement and older adult employment. Nonprofit organizations and government entities are eligible to apply. Application information is available on the Bader Philanthropies’ website.

Description: The Distance Learning and Telemedicine Grants program helps rural communities use advanced telecommunications technology to connect to each other—and the world—overcoming the effects of remoteness and low population density. Key priorities include assisting rural communities to recover economically through more and better market opportunities and through improved infrastructure, ensuring all rural residents have equitable access to rural development programs and benefits from rural development funded projects; and reducing climate pollution and increasing resilience to the impacts of climate change through economic support to rural communities.

Program Supports Workforce Services for Incarcerated Individuals
Department of Labor

Application deadline: March 14, 2025
Description: The purpose of the Pathway Home 6 grants program is to provide eligible incarcerated individuals in men’s and women’s state correctional facilities or local or county jails with workforce services prior to release and to continue services after release by transitioning the participants into reentry programs in the communities to which they will return. Projects are designed to eliminate the time gap between release from prison and enrollment into a workforce development reentry program leading to skills-based employment, to improve individuals’ transition back into their communities, and to reduce recidivism.
