Canadian Internet Registration Authority: Net Good Grants

Application deadline: April 9, 2025
Grant amount: Up to $100,000
Description: The Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) manages .CA domains on behalf of all Canadians and works to build a trusted internet for Canadians. CIRA's Net Good Grants Program supports communities, projects, and policies that make Canada’s internet better for everyone. Funding is provided in the following areas: infrastructure, online safety, and policy engagement. Priority is given to initiatives that benefit students (K-12 and post-secondary) and northern, rural, and Indigenous communities. Eligible applicants include registered charities, nonprofit organizations, Indigenous communities, and academics affiliated with a Canadian university or college.

Funding Advances Youth-Led Climate Action
The Youth Harbour: Action Grants

Application deadline: April 1 and November 3, 2025
Grant amount: $5,000 to $30,000
Description: The Youth Harbour, a project of FES, supports youth-led organizations, projects, and groups taking action against the climate crisis in Canada. Through the Action Grants program, Youth Harbour provides operational and flexible funding for organizations or projects to operate for the long term and reduce the impacts of the climate crisis. These grants support the advancement of young people's work and the mobilization of community-driven solutions. Support is provided to assist with organizational and operational longevity, expanding funding opportunities, and refining the organization's mission, vision, and strategy. Eligible applicants consist of organizations and individuals, including unregistered organizations, nonprofit organizations, and Indigenous and community projects.

Indigenous Innovators Supported
MIT Solve: Indigenous Communities Fellowship

Application deadline: April 17, 2025
Geographic scope: United States and Canada
Grant amount: $10,000
Description: Through the Indigenous Communities Fellowship, MIT Solve seeks exceptional innovators supporting community-based solutions by and for Indigenous communities across the United States and Canada. The Fellowship seeks to answer the question “How can Indigenous innovators in the U.S. and Canada build upon traditional knowledge and technology to meet the social, environmental, and economic goals of their communities?” For 2025, there is a particular interest in solutions that 1) strengthen sustainable energy sovereignty and support climate resilience initiatives by and for Indigenous peoples; 2) develop tools to promote Indigenous sovereignty, including the ethical use of AI and data technologies, culturally aligned digital infrastructure, or access to economic opportunity; and 3) drive positive outcomes for Indigenous learners of any age and context through culturally grounded educational opportunities. Selected teams receive a $10,000 unrestricted grant as well as access to additional financing and prize funding and a program of support.

Funds Bolster Elementary Education in Canada and Developing Countries
Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario: ETFO Humanity Fund

Application deadline: April 15 and October 15, annually
Geographic scope: Canada and developing countries
Description: The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario (ETFO) is the professional and protective organization representing teachers and education professionals employed in the public elementary schools of Ontario. The ETFO Humanity Fund supports the advancement of elementary education of children in Canada and developing countries by: 1) establishing, supporting, and maintaining schools for children in developing nations and supporting teachers’ development and education in developing nations; 2) developing and supporting literacy in Canada and in developing nations; and 3) providing scholarships and instructional resources to teachers in developing nations. Support is also provided for relief from natural disasters or sudden catastrophes, and to relieve poverty and physical need in Canada and elsewhere by providing food and other basic supplies to children in need. Registered charities based in Canada are eligible to apply.

Alberta Blue Cross: Community Wellbeing Grant Program

Application deadline: April 30, 2025
Geographic scope: Alberta
Grant amount: Fifty grants of $1,000 will be made.
Description: Alberta Blue Cross is committed to promoting the health and wellness of Albertans. Through the Community Wellbeing grant program, Alberta Blue Cross awards grants to nonprofit organizations that promote the physical, mental, and social well-being of all Albertans. In 2025, a total of 50 awards of $1,000 each will be made. (The Built Together and Faces of Wellness programs will open later in the year, with fall deadlines.)

Tamara Foundation

Geographic scope: Primarily British Columbia
Grant amount: $10,000 to $25,000
Description: The Tamara Foundation, administered by Stronger Philanthropy, focuses on developing opportunities for women and children. The Foundation provides grants for registered charities primarily in British Columbia (with some grants provided for organizations working beyond BC in Canada and internationally) that remove barriers and empower women and children who deserve healthy and full lives. Areas of interest include education, social services, health services and housing, and creating change that benefits marginalized groups.

Support Targets 2SLGBTQ+ Communities in the Greater Toronto Area
Community One Foundation

Application deadline: April 11, 2025
Geographic scope: Greater Toronto Area, including Toronto, Durham, Peel, Hamilton, York, and Halton regions, and Indigenous communities across Ontario
Grant amount: Up to $10,000
Description: The Community One Foundation aims to enhance the development of the 2SLGBTQ+ communities in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Rainbow Grants provide funding to foster new and innovative services and programs that have a positive impact on the 2SLGBTQ+ community in the GTA. Areas of interest include arts and culture, community and social development, and community well-being and direct services. Foundation Rainbow Grants of up to $10,000 are open to registered charities or groups trusteed by a registered charity. General Rainbow Grants of up to $3,000 are open to unincorporated groups, collectives, and individuals without charitable status. The Foundation strongly encourages applications for programming, projects, and initiatives that prioritize and center the work of two-spirit, Indigenous, trans, and non-binary practitioners, facilitators, artists, and communities.

Description: Canada’s Volunteer Awards (CVA) highlight the many ways that volunteering strengthens communities. CVA recognizes volunteers, nonprofit organizations, social enterprises, and businesses for their contributions across the country. The Awards consist of a national award for lifetime achievement as well as 20 regional awards in the following categories: Community Leader, Emerging Leader, Business Leader, and Social Innovator.

Projects Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions Funded in NL
Government of Newfoundland and Labrador

Application deadline: April 11, 2025
Geographic scope: Newfoundland and Labrador
Description: The Climate Change Challenge Fund supports nonprofit organizations, the private sector, public sector bodies or boards, municipal governments, and Indigenous organizations to undertake greenhouse gas emission reduction projects in Newfoundland and Labrador. Projects must cost-effectively reduce greenhouse gas emissions and fall under one or more of the following target areas: energy efficiency that results in reduced fossil fuel use, fuel switching to reduce emissions, process changes in the industrial sector, adoption of new technologies that displace or eliminate on-site greenhouse gas emissions, and carbon sequestration in the agriculture and forestry sectors.

Call Addresses Gender-Based Violence in Nunavut
Government of Nunavut

Geographic scope: Nunavut
Description: The Government of Nunavut's Department of Family Services has issued a call for proposals to support initiatives that seek to address gender-based violence in Nunavut. Proposals should demonstrate how proponents will actively promote gender-based violence prevention and education; aim to transform social norms, attitudes, and behaviors contributing to gender-based violence; enhance health, social, economic, and justice outcomes of those impacted by gender-based violence; and address underlying causes, prevention strategies, mitigation, and responses to gender-based violence.
