Counselling Foundation of Canada

Grant amount: $15,000 to $100,000 (Grants average $50,000.)
Description: The Counselling Foundation of Canada champions lifelong learning and career development that empowers people in Canada to develop their skills and talents. The Foundation supports career development and career counseling for youth between the ages of 12 and 30, particularly Indigenous peoples, newcomers, and rural and remote communities. The focus is on programs and projects that eliminate barriers to the pursuit and attainment of meaningful work, promote employability, and raise career awareness. The Foundation sees its role as being an early stage or seed funder of initiatives (e.g., testing out a new model of service delivery or programming, expanding a program or project, piloting a new program or project, or applying traditional knowledge in new ways). Registered charities, qualified donees, and registered nonprofit organizations are eligible to apply.

Description: The TD Friends of the Environment Foundation is a national charity that funds a wide variety of environmental projects across Canada, with a primary focus on environmental education and green space programs. Eligible projects include, but are not limited to, schoolyard greening, park revitalization, community gardens, park programming, and citizen science initiatives. Registered charities, educational institutions (primary, secondary, and post-secondary), municipalities, and Indigenous groups and communities are eligible to apply.

Description: The Sarah Badgley Literacy Fund for Rural Ontario Children, administered by the Ontario Library Association, awards grants to small rural public libraries and to urban public libraries that serve rural clientele in Ontario. The purpose of the grant is to support children’s literacy initiatives. Priority is given to libraries that promote the love of reading through literacy programs, book purchases, or equipment purchases.

Cause We Care Foundation: Community Grants Program

Description: The Cause We Care Foundation aims to empower single mothers in need in the BC Lower Mainland to improve their well-being, economic security, and personal capacity. The Foundation’s Community Grants Program supports programs that have proven effective at positively impacting the lives of single mothers and their children. Programs must improve economic security for single mothers, increase personal capacity for single mothers, or result in greater opportunities and improved well-being for children in single mother-led families. Registered charities providing direct services to single mothers or their children within the BC Lower Mainland are eligible to apply.

Description: The Building Communities through Arts and Heritage program was created to help communities celebrate their past and present. The Community Anniversaries component of this program provides funding to local groups for non–recurring local anniversary commemoration events, with or without a minor capital project. Eligible events and capital projects are those that commemorate the 100th anniversary or greater, in increments of 25 years, of a significant local historical event or personality.
