National Geographic Society: The Big Questions

Application deadline: June 24, 2025
Grant amount: Up to $100,000
Description: The Big Questions request for proposals, released by the National Geographic Society and supported by the John Templeton Foundation, seeks innovative photography, short film, writing, data visualization, and other storytelling proposals to help people consider some of the greatest questions of our time. Projects should in some way work to explore one of the following questions: What does it mean to be human? What are the boundaries of Earth, or more precisely, what are the limits to what we can understand? What is the relationship between the human and the natural worlds?

Grants Improve Oral Health in Low-Income Areas
FDI World Dental Federation: World Dental Development Fund

Application deadline: June 15, 2025
Geographic scope: Low- and middle-income countries and disadvantaged populations
Grant amount: Three to five grants of CHF 10,000 each are awarded annually.
Description: The World Dental Development Fund, an initiative of the FDI World Dental Federation, aims to enhance oral health and prevent oral diseases in low-income areas. Support is provided for community-based oral health projects benefiting populations in low- or middle-income countries or disadvantaged populations in the areas of oral health education or promotion, oral disease prevention, oral healthcare delivery, or oral health integration into primary healthcare. Projects must relate to local, regional, or national strategic health aims within the country and should be developed in consultation with local authorities and stakeholders. Applications are accepted from FDI member organizations as well as non-member organizations with an endorsement letter from an FDI Regular Member Association in the project's country.

Challenge Recognizes Young People Tackling Hate
One Young World: Break the Hate Challenge

Application deadline: June 16, 2025
Grant amount: Three winners will receive £5,000 to accelerate their impact.
Description: The Break the Hate Challenge, presented by One Young World and PACT!, recognizes young leaders who fight hate with bold ideas, loud voices, and absolutely no apologies. The Challenge is open to all young leaders ages 18 to 35 who are tackling hate in their communities or countries. Priority is given to candidates who demonstrate tangible impact, creative edge, and relentless courage. Both applications and nominations are accepted.

Peace and Consumer Protection Research Supported
Innovations for Poverty Action

Application deadline: Peace and Recovery Initiative - June 13, 2025; Consumer Protection Research Initiative - June 15, 2025
Grant amount: Up to $500,000 for the Peace and Recovery Initiative, and up to $300,000 for the  Consumer Protection Research Initiative
Description: Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) seeks to discover and advance what works to improve the lives of people living in poverty. IPA currently has two open calls for proposals: The Peace and Recovery Initiative aims to improve outcomes for conflict- and crisis-affected populations by building the evidence base on reducing violence and fragility, promoting peace, and preventing, managing, and recovering from crises. Grants support research teams for rigorous impact evaluations, pilots, exploratory studies, evidence use and policy outreach support, and infrastructure and public goods projects to inform policies and programs related to the prevention of, responses to, and recovery from most forms of social and political violence as well as humanitarian emergencies. The Consumer Protection Research Initiative is focused on evaluating interventions that reduce consumer risks and build trust in digital payments and credit products. Funding is provided for work addressing four core research areas: fraud prevention and detection; high prices, price transparency, and market competition; over-indebtedness and responsible digital credit; and complaints redress mechanisms.

Intel Community Reach Program

Application deadline: June 13, 2025
Geographic scope: Africa
Description: The Intel Community Reach Program seeks to leverage the power of artificial intelligence (AI) and broadband connectivity to alleviate social challenges in Africa. Support is provided for projects that can enable populations in underserved areas (or communities) in the member states of the African Union to have access to education including STEM, healthcare, environmental services, agriculture, fintech solutions, and digital skills readiness. Projects must be enabled or planned to be enabled by AI or broadband connectivity. Organizations, enterprises, startups, and institutions that are working towards alleviating social challenges using AI or broadband connectivity to unlock Africa’s digital landscape may apply.

Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust: Major Capital Grants Programme

Application deadline: June 18, 2025
Geographic scope: United Kingdom
Grant amount: £75,000 to £500,000
Description: The Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust awards grants that support the armed forces community in the U.K. The Major Capital Grants Programme funds projects that support significant refurbishment, including extensions and new builds, of rental accommodation that will offer high quality support for veterans with a housing need. Registered charities working with veterans are eligible to apply.

Frontline AIDS: Rapid Response Fund

Application deadline: None
Geographic scope: Angola, Benin, Cambodia, Cameroon, Chad, Cote D’Ivoire, Dominican Republic, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Mali, Rwanda, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Trinidad and Tobago, and Vietnam
Grant amount: Up to $15,000
Description: The mission of Frontline AIDS is to support community-led organizations to break down social, political, and legal barriers to create a future free from AIDS. Through the Rapid Response Fund, Frontline AIDS supports marginalized communities in 24 countries in the Caribbean, Africa, and East Asia to tackle HIV-related human rights challenges, including stigma, discrimination, and threats of violence.  Emergency response grants are available to organizations led by or working closely with the following marginalized groups affected by HIV: lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBT+) people; sex workers; and people who use drugs.

Application deadline: The deadline for candidates to submit applications to nominating entities is June 13, 2025. The deadline for nominating entities to submit their nominations to UNESCO is June 27, 2025.
Geographic scope: Global
Grant amount: Awards of $20,000 and $30,000 are made. 
Description: UNESCO International Literacy Prizes reward excellence and innovation in the field of literacy. In 2025, the following Prizes will be awarded under the theme "Promoting Literacy in a Digital Era": The UNESCO King Sejong Literacy Prize (three awards of $20,000) will give special consideration to mother language-based literacy development. The UNESCO Confucius Prize for Literacy (three awards of $30,000) will give special consideration to functional literacy and leveraging technological environments in support of adults in rural areas and out-of-school youth. National Commissions for UNESCO and non-governmental organizations in official partnership with UNESCO may nominate individuals, institutions, and organizations who are making outstanding contributions to promoting literacy and who request a nomination.

Geographic scope: Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Ukraine
Description: The Central European Initiative (CEI) Cooperation Fund co-finances activities aimed at strengthening cooperation among CEI Member States. Funding supports activities contributing to medium and long-term engagement of civil society and institutions with a view to: 1) addressing the consequences of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine; 2) advancing good governance and institutional development; 3) empowering youth, women, and other vulnerable groups; 4) fostering better health; 5) promoting connectivity and sustainable mobility; and 6) scaling up renewable energy, energy efficiency, and energy security. Applications are accepted from all public and private entities based and registered in CEI Member States (public/public equivalent bodies, non-governmental and civil society organizations, private entities) as well as international organizations.
