Supercharging Young Impact Founders
Social Shifters Global Innovation Challenge

Grant amount: Up to $15,000 USD
Description: The Global Innovation Challenge empowers young founders (ages 18–30) who are leading projects or startups focused on social impact. To enter, your idea must contribute to at least one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Selected participants receive free founder and project support and gain access to a global opportunity network to connect with mentors and changemakers. This is a chance to turn bold ideas into real-world impact.

Description: Ploughshares focuses its grantmaking on four key areas: Near-Term Steps to counter nuclear policy regression and regional conflicts, Strengthened Community to build a resilient and inclusive nuclear field, Shared Purpose to align with social justice movements for broader impact, and Bold Futures to support transformative strategies that challenge the nuclear status quo. These portfolios collectively aim to reduce nuclear threats while fostering long-term systemic change and partnerships.
Three-Year Funding for Ex Situ Rescues

Grant amount: Up to $7,000 USD in year one, $5,000 USD in year two, and $3,000 USD in year three
Description: The program offers initial funding to support newly launched ex situ rescue projects for species identified as needing conservation action. Funding is structured over three years contingent on meeting objectives and timely reporting. Eligible projects must be based on a recognized conservation needs assessment or similar evaluation, and all application questions must be answered.

Rainforest Fund Empowers Indigenous Communities

Description: The Rainforest Fund supports Indigenous Peoples and traditional rainforest populations in protecting their environment and asserting their rights. Emphasis is placed on safeguarding indigenous rights and ensuring sustainable development of communities. Projects are reviewed annually for at least three years to build long-term resilience while avoiding dependency.
Support for Bird Conservation in Africa

Grant amount: Conservation Awards up to £3,000; Expedition Awards up to £5,000
Description: The African Bird Club (ABC) provides vital funding for ornithological conservation through its two main grant programs. Conservation Awards back a range of initiatives including bird surveys and monitoring, educational projects, training courses, the creation of local-language bird guides, support for grassroots bird clubs, and awareness campaigns on pressing conservation issues. Expedition Awards focus on conservation projects with a strong emphasis on birds that typically involve international travel to conduct fieldwork. Together, these awards empower both local and international efforts to protect Africa’s avian biodiversity while fostering education and community engagement.

European Outdoor Conservation Association

Grant amount: Up to €30,000
Description: The European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA) supports the protection of nature and wild places through grantmaking. EOCA funds hands-on conservation projects worldwide, excluding the United States and Canada. Eligible initiatives must safeguard threatened species or habitats, directly connect with outdoor enthusiasts, and deliver tangible conservation outcomes. EOCA prioritizes projects that enhance biodiversity within wild landscapes — a term encompassing both terrestrial and marine environments as well as other non-urban natural spaces. Projects are expected to conserve, protect, restore, or reconnect vital habitats, contributing to the long-term health and resilience of ecosystems.

Description: The Refugee-led Innovation Fund champions the creativity of all displaced and stateless people. The Fund provides holistic support—combining financial resources, mentoring, and other expertise—directly to refugee-led organizations to enable them to design and deliver new interventions that have a lasting positive impact on their communities. Eligible applicants include registered and unregistered organizations led by people with lived experience of forced displacement, including refugees, asylum-seekers, the internally displaced, returnees, and stateless people.
