Infusing Empowerment Language in Grantwriting
Webinar date: November 13 & 19, 2:00 PM Eastern Time
Description: As grant writers, you are responsible for presenting stories of inequity, disenfranchisement, resource shortages, and struggle under the umbrella of need. Unfortunately the traditional “needs statement” unintentionally reinforces a deficit mindset rather than celebrating community strength. During this two-part webinar series, Eric Spioch of Elevate will help you reimagine how you talk about need, equity, and impact. Through a blend of theory and practice, you’ll examine both disempowering and empowering language in grant writing and explore the real-world impacts of each.
Ethical Quality Control: Avoiding Plagiarism and Reducing Bias with AI
Webinar date: November 17, 2025, 2:00 PM Eastern Time
Description: Plagiarism and bias are real risks when using AI in grantwriting and communications. AI tools can unintentionally replicate existing inequities, reproduce other people’s work too closely, or generate content that doesn’t reflect your nonprofit’s authentic voice. Learning how to identify and address these issues is critical to using AI responsibly. In this session, Alice Ruhnke and David Gates will explain why plagiarism occurs in the AI context, how bias shows up, and what you can do to reduce these risks. You’ll discover strategies for editing AI outputs to ensure originality, inclusivity, and alignment with your organization’s values.
Grant Management: Essential to Grantwriting Success
Webinar date: November 18, 2025, 2:00 PM Eastern Time
Description: Effective grant management begins long before your award letter arrives. It starts with the strategic decision of which grants to decide to pursue. Unfortunately, many organizations treat grant management as an afterthought. Staff turnover, unclear roles, and inconsistent systems often result in late or incomplete reports, which can damage credibility and impact the very communities you aim to serve. For many nonprofits, managing a grant can be even more challenging than writing one. During this webinar, Amanda Day and Kimberly Hays de Muga will demonstrate why strong grant management is essential to your organization’s success and why it should never be a solo effort.
